The 2020 English Premier League has been on hold since March 9 due to COVID-19 - but it's finally coming back! British TV broadcasters have decided to show over 30 Premier League matches for free. As a result, this could be the best year to watch the Premier League using a VPN.

There's still a lot to play for. Although Liverpool has wrapped up the league title, with seven matches still to be played, there's still a battle for the European spots. At the other end of the table, teams fight to avoid relegation.

By using a VPN you can watch the rest of the 2020 season - our guide will explain how to unblock EPL games from anywhere in the world.

How to stream the Premier League using a VPN

UK broadcasters use geo-restrictions to block people watching soccer matches. In 2020, those blocks are more annoying than ever before, because many broadcasters have decided to stream Premiership matches for free (as a sign of goodwill following the pandemic). The good news? By using a VPN, you can unblock and stream Premier League matches for free from anywhere in the world.

A VPN lets you conceal your real IP address, so you can pretend to be in a different country. This lets you unblock BBC iPlayer, BT Sports, Sky Sports, and any other online livestream of EPL football.  Just follow the steps below:

  1. Sign up to a VPN service - We list the five best providers for unblocking the Premier League below.
  2. Download the VPNs software - The VPN software is available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iPhone.
  3. Connect to a VPN server in the country where the streaming site is available - We have listed the cheapest ways to watch the Premier League in this article. And, thanks to the pandemic, some matches are completely free with a VPN. BBC are showing top-flight football for the first time since 1992 (4 matches) and Sky and Amazon Prime are showing free to air games too.
  4. Start streaming the Premier League - It's as simple as that!

How to watch the Premier League in the UK

As the season returns to stadiums without fans, broadcasters will show every Premier League match that remains in the season. There are 92 premier league games left and 33 of them will be free to watch. We list who is streaming the Premier League below.

Sky Sports and BT Sport

Sky Sports and BT Sport have exclusive live broadcasting rights for the vast majority of Premier League football matches. Both of those British services are subscription services, which means there is usually no way to watch matches without paying. In the second half of 2020, however, that is all about to change!

Sky Sports is going to show 64 matches in total. That is 25 more matches than it was originally going to broadcast in 2020. 39 of those games will be available exclusively to paying subscribers. However, the extra 25 matches will be available on Sky’s new free-to-air channel, Sky Pick - and you should be able to access that channel for free online once you connect to a UK VPN server.

BT Sport will air 20 games. The good news is that BT is considering showing some of those matches for free. These will be available on the BT Sport YouTube channel (as long as you connect to a VPN server in the UK).

Most people consider Sky Sports to be the best way to stream the EPL, but this comes with a lengthy contract. Fortunately, NowTV is a UK streaming service owned by Sky that lets you purchase weekly or monthly passes to Sky Sports. A NowTV Sky Sports Pass costs £8.99 a day, £31.99 (US$49.90) a month or £199 for the whole of the season

If you pay for a British Sky Sports account, you can use the Sky Go App to watch Premiership matches on two devices. BT Sport customers, on the other hand, can either watch the football in their browser - or by using the BT Sport app for iOS or Android.

BBC iPlayer

The BBC will be showing 4 EPL matches for free - in addition to highlights of the EPL each week on Match of the Day and Match of the Day 2. You can easily use a VPN to unblock iPlayer and stream all of that content without paying a thing!

The BBC will show Bournemouth v Crystal Palace on 20 June at 19:45 BST, and Norwich v Everton on 24 June at 18:00. The following two matches have yet to be confirmed - but they will all be available for free on BBC iPlayer.

Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime has won the broadcasting rights to 4 extra Premiership games in 2020/21. To watch those matches, use a VPN to subscribe to Prime as if you were in the UK.

Even better: Amazon Prime has promised to show the four extra matches it has for free. And Amazon has promised that you will not need to be a paying member of Amazon Prime to watch those free EPL matches!

Can I watch the Merseyside Derby for free with a VPN?

Premier League Build-up

This weekend’s Premier League action kicks off at 11:30 (UTC) with two matches these are:

  • Watford vs Newcastle (11:30)
  • Norwich vs West Ham (11:30)

As the season goes on the fight at the bottom of the table becomes more and more interesting and these two matches will go a long way to deciding who stays up. Watford’s relegation rivals, Bournemouth, earned a point on Thursday night against José Mourinho’s spurs and were unlucky not to get all three points as they had a goal chalked off by a VAR decision.

Watford are only three points above the drop zone and so will be desperate for a win against 13th place Newcastle. They won their last match against Norwich City and will be keen to keep the momentum going. Newcastle have been inconsistent since the restart, they started off with a 3-0 win against Sheffield United and were beaten 5-0 by Manchester City in their last match.

Norwich play host to West Ham United. Norwich are strong favorites to go down, so much so that the bookies have stopped taking bets on the canaries to be relegated. If they are to stay up, they need to start winning matches soon. West Ham are 10 points above their opposition, level on points with Watford and only three points above the relegation places. If the hammers can play like they did against Chelsea in their 3-2 win, they will be very difficult to beat.

Liverpool vs Burnely is the only 2 o’clock match this Saturday. The Premier League champions are back to winning ways, they brushed aside a Brighton team that had showed a lot of fight and spirit in mid-week as they got closer to beating the Premier League points record. Jürgen Klopp will be very happy with his side's performance and may hand another appearance to youngsters Neco Williams and Curtis Jones, as both have looked lively when given the chance to play. Burnley are comfortable in mid-table and will be looking to push for a potential European spot. It’s tight between 10th and 6th, and a win could put them into 7th place.

The two late kick offs are as follows:

  • Sheffield united vs Chelsea (16:30)
  • Brighton vs Manchester City (19:00)

After a difficult start to the return of the season, Sheffield United have been playing some fantastic football. They got a great win against Wolves in their last match and will go into this match with confidence. Chelsea got back to winning ways quickly after their loss to West Ham. Chelsea look like may have enough to hold off the teams around them for a spot in the Champions League, but with the blades also vying for a place in Europe next season, this will be a difficult game.

Sunday’s fixtures are as follows:

  • Everton vs Wolves (11:00)
  • Aston Villa vs Palace (13:15)
  • Tottenham vs Arsenal (15:30)
  • Bournemouth vs Leicester (18:00)

The early kick off will be an interesting match. Everton have looked a completely different team since Ancelotti has come in as manager. After two defeats from Arsenal and Sheffield United Wolves have lost the momentum that they worked so hard to gain. They are six points behind Manchester United in fifth place and a Champions League spot may just be out of their reach.

The big game of the weekend is the North London derby. There’s a point between Tottenham and Arsenal, so a win will not only gift their teams bragging rights, it may also decide who finishes higher in the league. Both teams are in poor form coming into this match, so it’s just as well that form goes out the window for a derby match. We’re hoping for an action-packed match and as both teams struggle defensively, it looks like there will be goals in this one.

The final match in this round of fixture is Manchester United vs Southampton on Monday night.

Don’t miss a minute of the Premier League football and use a VPN and one of the methods above to stream all the action live.
