How to Watch the PDC World Darts World Championship

The PDC World Darts Championship returns on December 15th. As always, the biggest event in world darts will take place at London's Alexandra Palace, but with 3,000 fans attending this year. However, darts fans can catch all the action on Sky Sports and the PDC Darts website – so long as you live in the UK, Ireland, or the Netherlands.

If not, don't worry! A VPN is a simple, low-cost tool that'll grant you access to each and every match of the Championship, regardless of where you are in the world.

How to watch the PDC World Darts Championship?

With a VPN, you can tune in to live sports – including the PDC Darts Championship – no matter where you are. A VPN bypasses geo-restrictions that might otherwise prevent you from accessing streaming sites by assigning you a new IP address, letting you pretend to be somewhere the services aren't blocked. This might sound complicated, but it's easy to get a VPN set up – just follow along with the steps below:

  1. The first thing you'll need to do is subscribe to a VPN provider. There are lots to choose from, but you'll want a fast VPN service – after all, there's nothing more frustrating than low-quality streams or constant buffering. We recommend ExpressVPN because it's fast and will allow you to unblock the darts with ease.
  2. Next, download the VPN app from the provider's website. The best VPNs will allow you to use the software on multiple devices simultaneously, so you can watch the darts on your laptop, smartphone, or tablet!
  3. The VPN will then walk you through the installation process. Typically, this only takes a minute or two and a few clicks. Log in with your credentials and connect to an appropriate server that'll unblock the streaming service of your choice – for the Darts Championship, we'd recommend connecting to the UK or USA.
  4. Now you can visit the PDC website or Sky Sports app and stream the darts tournament from start to finish!

Where to watch the PDC World Championship Darts 2024?

The 2024 darts tournament will be broadcast on Sky Sports, RTL7, DAZN, as well as the PDC darts and PDC Rest of the World websites.

You'll need a subscription to tune into these streaming services – and you'll need one before you can access the action via a VPN, too. A PDC subscription is available for the UK, Ireland, and Netherlands citizens at £9.99 a month (or £59.99 for the year).

PDC also became available for customers outside the UK, Ireland, and Netherlands on PDC Rest of the World for the same monthly and yearly subscription price. However, instead of going through the trouble of making a new account for each country that you visit (and paying extra cash each time), you can install one of the best cheap VPNs, and stream this season's the Darts from anywhere with your existing account for only a fraction more.

Sky Sports will be following the action on its dedicated Sky Sports Darts channel. If you're not an existing Sky Sports customer, you'll still be able to keep up with the channel's coverage by purchasing a NowTV Sky Sports pass. This pass includes access to Sky Sports Darts, and there are no pesky contracts to worry about. Select from a day pass at £9.98, or purchase a monthly pass at £33.99 (£25 a month if you opt for a 6-month subscription).

When is the William Hill Darts World Championship?

This year's tournament will take place in London's prestigious Alexandra Palace, and the action kicks off on December 15th, with a total of seven rounds before the final match on January 3rd. The first and second rounds will play during the run-up to Christmas. The third and fourth rounds will take place in the days between Christmas and New Year, and once 2024 has been rung in, the tournament enters its final stages. New Year's Day will decide the quarter-finals, semi-finals fall on January 2nd, and the grand finale will take place on January 3rd.

What to know about the William Hill Darts Championship?

There's £2.5 million up for grabs this year for the tournament's winner, as well as the Sid Waddell Trophy, and 96 players will be vying for the chance to lift it at the end of a grueling 28-session championship.

The tournament's first round will welcome 32 qualifiers from the Pro Tour Order of Merit as well as 32 international entrants, and the remaining 32 entrees – The top players from the PDC Order of Merit (the world's most prestigious players)– will join the championship in its second round.

We expect great things from leading stars Peter Wright, Michael van Gerwen and James Wade, this year, and we are curious to see whether the last year's champion Gerwyn Price will be able to defend his title.

This year's event will no doubt look to top the previous championship's spectacle – which is no small feat! The 2020/21 William Hill tournament saw Gerwyn Price defeat two-time winner Gary Anderson and became the first-ever Welsh PDC World Champion. This triumph also pushed Price on the top of the PDC Order of Merit list, leaping above seven-year champion Michael van Gerwen.

On December 15th, Gerwyn Price will step up to the oche on the first day of competition and begin his campaign to retain his title – and he'll face either Ritchie Edhouse or Lihao Wen. All matches are planned as single in, double out, so players need to score at least 501 points to win a leg – ending on either a double or the bullseye. The matches will get progressively longer as the tournament advances – from the first and second rounds being best of five all the way to the final, which will be best of 13.

Unlike last year's tournament, which was mostly played behind closed doors, because of the COVID measures implemented by the UK government, this year the fans will be given the opportunity to attend. However, the seats are limited, and only 3,000 tickets are available for purchase. Luckily, with a VPN, you don't need to worry about any restrictions; you can enjoy every single match from the comfort of your home.

How to watch PDC Darts World Championship - Conclusion

The 2024 William Hill World Darts Championship is shaping up to be a colossal event – and the festive backdrop adds a touch of winter magic to the proceedings. So, whether you're rooting for the defending champion Gerwyn Price, supporting Peter Wright, Michael van Gerwen, or James Wade, or just want to see some darts played by experts – you won't want to miss a match.

Luckily, a VPN is an ideal way of staying up to date with the championship. With one subscription, you'll be able to tune in to each clash, even if you're going away on a holiday! Here's a quick summary of the best VPNs for streaming the PDC Darts World Championship:
